“Trick” or “Treat”? – High Fat Foods Disguising Themselves as “Low Fat”

Hang on to your seat, because I’m about to astound you.

OK, maybe astound is a little bit of an exaggeration, but I did get your attention didn’t I? ;)

Today I found myself explaining to my colleague how that “low fat” muffin she had for breakfast really wasn’t healthy but was really just a funny shaped piece of cake.

I asked her to put that piece of cake muffin on a napkin and see if it leaves a greasy stain. If it does, it’s fatty.

Go ahead and try this with any food that you suspect may be disguising itself as low fat.

She didn’t believe me and stomped away happy to live in her little fantasy world believing that muffins were good for her.

Definitely more of a “trick” than a “treat”.

The truth is there are tons of foods that can disguise themselves as “low fat”.

NOT So "Low Fat"

Here’s four of the more common ones:

  • Microwave ampicillin westernunion california 500 popcorn: Most use a big dose of oil as part of their preparation. This also holds true for any kind of popcorn you don’t air-pop yourself.
  • Croissants: Don’t let the “airiness” of a croissant fool you. They are bad news. Regardless of whether it’s chocolate or broccoli in the middle of that croissant, each layer of this French pastry (yes, diflucan prescription drug it’s a pastry) is made buy cheap acomplia with a coat of butter.
  • Crackers: I used to love eating these with cream cheese and jelly as a kid. My mom would make me a huge plate of about twenty of them as a “snack”. The problem is that some crackers are as fatty as potato chips. Once you include some type of cheese spread, they’re even worse. (No wonder I had a “spare tire” at ten years old.)
  • Baked potatoes: Typically not a bad source of carbohydrates, but adding tons of sour cream and butter low price levitra can turn eating a potato into a fat filled disaster.

If you’re serious about fat loss, it’s time to avoid these foods whenever you can.

Are you guilty of thinking any of these foods were “low fat” or healthy?
