Before I go on to Day 9 of “Gut Check: Fat Loss”, I wanted to share with you yet anoher reason you should stay away from long, boring cardio and cardio machines. ;)

After a day off, I felt invigorated on Day 9. I was pumped to get up early and hit my workout. Today I added an opposing body part super-set to finish off my workout.

5:30: Two cold glasses of water
6:00: Glass of OJ
6:30: New BusyBod full body fat loss workout:

Four 4-minute rounds (I was only able to get three rounds in today.I forgot my daughter had to be in school early and I was driving!) Each round consisted of the following exercises performing as many as I could at high intensity for 20 seconds, then resting for 10 seconds until one circuit was complete. I then rested 2 minutes before starting again:

Round 1: Lunges with overhead press
Round 2: Pullups on the Lebert Equalizer
Round 3: Squat Jumps with dumbbells
Round 4: Alligator push-ups
Round 5: Squat Jumps with dumbbells
Round 6: Pullups on the Lebert Equalizer
Round 7: Alternating lunge jumps
Round 8: Stability ball push-ups (feet on the ball)
BONUS Round 9: Alternating dumbell curls (10 reps), immediately followed by diamond pushups (until failure)

7:00: One banana, a handful of almonds
8:00: Two cold glasses of water
8:15: Cup of green tea
9:15: Two cups of blueberries, handful of walnuts
11:00: Cup of green tea
12:30: Steamed chicken with broccoli
2:30: Two cold glasses of water
4:00: A pear, some cashews
5:00: Two cold glasses of water
6:30: A bowl of lentils
9:30: Two tablespoons of organic almond butter
11:00: Nighty night!

As you could see I focus on bodyweight and dumbbell exercises for my home workouts. Because I workout in my den (which is very small), I don’t have room for a bench or barbells. My entire “gym” setup consists of:

That’s it. It’s a minimalist approach that requires very little space, perfect for home workous. It also saves me thousands of dollars in gym memberships. It saves me time since I don’t have to drive to and from the gym and it saves me frustration from having to wait on line for equipment.

Oh, and let’s not forget having to tolerate some of the people I’d rather avoid at the gym, like those dreadful grunters!
